RAILWAY BALL.
OTAHUHU WORKSHOPS. *
BRILLIANT FUNCTION. Held in the spacious ballroom at the railway workshops at Otahuhu, the annual hall, due to the perfect arrangements made by a most energetic committee, was one of the most successful functions vet held. The decorations were most favourably commented upon by the large attendance of guests, the ceiling being one mass of multi-coloured streamers in lattice pattern. The lighting effects were particularly novel, and consisted of a large revolving lamp in the centre of the hall reflected into a mirrored pendulum which .shone and sparkled with crystal effect. Long oblong glass shades in many colours, and lights shaded in pastel shades, threw a soft glow on to the dance floor, and bright curtains were draped on the windows of the cubicles.
The committee responsible for the success of the evening was Messrs. ,T. B. Graham, workshops manager, H. Revell, chairman, W. Leech, secretary. W. M. .Tones, E. C. C. Leadbrook. H. R. Johnston. McDonald (2). Macdonald. H. R. Johnstone. H. R. Priest. E. Robinson, H. Snooks. J. McDowell and G. Webster. Messrs. J. McDowell, C. Leadbrook and W. M. Jones were masters of ceremonies, and Mrs. J. Mc-Dowell played dance extras. Mr. J. B. Graham welcomed the guests, and with Mrs. Graham, who wore a frock of black velvet and gold sequins, led the grand march. Other members of the ladies' committee were: Mrs. H. J. Revell. who wore maroon waterwave taffeta; Mrs. W. M. Jones, black floral ninon; Mrs. J. McDowell, coronation blue cloque satin; Mrs. C.
