Infections diseases of the notifiable type caused an exceptionally large n*ml>er of deaths in Canterbury last week, iccording to the weekly bulletin issued jy the Health Department. Erysipelas caused no fewer than six leaths, while puerperal fever caused ,wo, and septic abortion and tuberiulosis one each. Scarlet fever and tuberculosis each pro Tided a fresh ease a> be recorded. On the West Coast one sane of tuberculosis was reported. The Department's investigations into he measles epidemic show that North Mid South Canterbury are almost clear >f the disease, there are still a few ases In the Buller district, Greymouth las a slight increase, while the position s unchanged in the metropolitan area.
