OCCUPATION CENTRE.
MOVE IN DUNEDIN. EDUCATION DEPARTMENT. (By Telegraph.—Special to " Star.") DUNEDIN, this day,
For some time past the National Council of Women and other women's bodies have heen agitating for the establishment in main centres of occupation centres for subnormal children along the lines of one such centre which has been functioning in Auckland for seven years. The Education Department has at last made a move and, taking advantage of knowledge possession by Miss J. C. Greene, of Nottingham Road School for Mental Deficient** in England, who is at present in New Zealand, is to open an occupation centre in Dunedin.
Miss Oreene has high praise for the work which is being done in the Auckland occupation centre. She considers the work there almost as efficient as that at her school at Nottingham. She says there is no lack of public support for the scheme in Auckland.
