SPRING FESTIVAL.

GREEN AND GOLD DECORATIONS

Once a year the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints hold a spring Festival, which is celebrated by members of the Church in all parts o*f the world. Th« green and gold colours of the church "were prominent in the decorations at the Symondsville Studio last evening, when the members of the Mutual Improvement Association of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Hay Saints in Auckland held a dance and queen carnival to celebrate the annual spring festival.

The decorations for the occasion were carried out in spring Howers of golden shades, intermingled with fresh spring greenery. The hall itself looked very effective with its colourful masses of green and gold balloons and twisted streamers in the same two shades. The stage of the hall also was decorated in these colours, and the letters "M.1.A." were suspended from the front of the stage in a place of honour.

Brightness was a1«o added to the proceedings by the men, many of whom departed from the traditional dark dinner suits and wore the American style of white Casino jacket. During the evening the members present registered their votes in favour of their particular queen candidate. Three queen candidates were present at the eeremonly, Miss Mabel Walker, Miss Marjorie Blackmail, and Miss Bettv Perrott. The official coronation ceremony of the winning queen was performed later in the evening by the president, Matthew Cowley.

On arrival the guests were received by Mrs. Matthew Cowley, the wife of the president, and Miss R. Attenborough, women's president of the Mutual Improvement Association. Mrs. Cowley was wearing a frock of embroidered mouissiline in spring green shades. Miss At ten borough was wearing an attractive frock of dimity in pastel blue, green and gold shades. Also assisting in .the arrangements for the evening was Elder Cotterrell. the men's president of the Mutual Improvement Association.

Among those present were: Mrs. H. Roberts, Mrs. Credin, Mis>s Molly Opai, Miss Eua. Hunt. Miss M. Ke*ne, Miss B. Brown, Miss M. Tangye, Miss Freda Baird, Miss Irene Miller, Miss Merle Miller, Miss B. Anderson. Miss Lcile Bilmar, Miss Bettv Edwards. Miss L. Roberts, Miss T. 'Xewell, Miss Edith Bell. Miss .T. Cooper, Miss M. Smith and Miss E. Buchan.
