NATURE MUSIC.
VARIED PROGRAMME.
A programme of "nature music" was presented at the Classic Club's tenth meeting of the present season held in the Overseas League rooms this week. A short talk on "Illustration in Music" was given by the club president, Dr. S. Kenneth Phillips, who described the various methods used by composers in giving pictorial effects to their compositions.

"In Autumn" (Franz); Miss Kay Christie, who presented "The Swallow," ."The Night in May" (Brahms), "You Lay So Still in the Sunshine,*' "The Rainbow Child,"
"This is the Island of Gardens" (ColeMr. James Ramsay, who sang "The Stormy Morning." "To lie Nunjr on the Waters" (Schubert I. "The Gardener," "Song to Spring" (Wolf).
Pianoforte solos were rendered by Mrs. Maud Lysajrlit, who played ".An Irish Dell" (Warner). "An Islaixl S]H>ir' (Ireland). "Moths" (Strauss-Taiisig), and .Mrs. Sholto Smith, who played "Pastorale and Capriccio" (Scarlatti). "Le Coucou" (Daquin), "Harmonies du Soir" (I'achulski), "The Little Bird," "The Butterfly" (ftrie<i).
The accompanists for the evening- were Mrs. Lysaght, Mr. Alan Pow and Dr. S. K. Phillips.
