WAITEMATA SEAT.
NATIONAUBT CAMPAIGN.
Mr. J. E. Close, National candidate for Waitemata, opened his campaign last night at Mairangi Bay. The local hall was crowded, extra seating accommodation having to be found. Some latecomers were unable to find room, having to stand in the doorway. Mr. Close gave a brief resume of hi« past activities and then passed on to the political question, stressing the fact that the fight thi* time was between Socialism and private enterprise.
Questions were varied in their subtance and the candidate was able to elucidate the various points raised.
A vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. Campbell Kennic, who said that the only vote of confidence necessary was in the ballot Ik>x on election day. Mr. Griffiths seconded the motion, which was carried by acclamation. Mr. R. H. Marryatt occupied the chair.
