AVOID WAR.
Sudetens Not Worth Involving
Europe in Conflict.
PROMINENT BRITON'S VIEWS. (Received 2 p.m.) VICTORIA (8.C.), September 20. Sir Bruce Bruce-Porter, a prominent figure in British medical and Army circles, who is sailing for Australia on Wednesday, declared that he did not believe that the Sudeten* were worth involving Europe in a war. He had no patience with those who were saying that they would rather fight now and Ret it over with. If hostilities were ataved off even for a year something is likely to bo accomplished. Mr. Chamberlain was wronged in many quarters for his stand. Tie had never promised that Britain would fight for the Czechs.
Sir Bruce Bruce-Porter married a daughter of the Rev. D. Bruce, D.D., of Auckland, and widow of the late Dr. J. H. Honeyman, also of Auckland.
