LONDON COUNCIL.
CINEMA PRICES CONTROL. LONDON. The new London County Council regulation for the control of prices for cinema seats cornea into operation on January 1 next. The council has no power to attach new conditions to existing licenses. The entertainments committee will, however, recommend to the council at its next meeting that a s(>ecial condition on the linos of the new rule be attached to licenses granted up to the end of the year. "It is obviously desirable in the public interest that. if the legal validity of the new rule is tn l»e tested. itn niithoritative decision by the Courts should be given as soon ae possible," states the committee.
At the last meeting of the council Mr. R. Stamp, chairman of the committee, said that a cinema trade organisation had declared its intention of inviting a prosecution to test the validity of the rule.
