PAPATOETOE TOWN BOARD.

The fortnightly meeting of the Papatoetoe Town Board was held last evening, w-hen an apology for absence was received from Mr. E. H. Hay.

Traffic Report.—The traffic inspector reported several cases taken on behalf of the board, with lines amounting to £10 5/. He also stated that he had warned an owner of a car about parking on a footpath, in consequence of several complaints received from residents. I Augmentation of Water Supply.—The engineer reported further improvements necessary in regard to the scheme of water supply, which met with approval, j Works Report.—The works committee reported further improvements in the roans of the district, and recommended sealing of several intersections and commencement of concrete footpaths in Wallace Road and the Great South Road Hie report Vas adopted.

Reserves Report—The reserves committee reported having prepared the cricket pitches and laying down of three new lawns in the cemetery. It was stated that the terms of hire of the stadium w,ere discussed with the local athletic club, and the board resolved to muke a charge to the club for the hire of the stadium. durin K the season of £3f>. It was decided to arrange seats at the Recreation Ground in response to a request from the local cricket club. ,

Concrete Footpaths.—A letter signed byresidents of Wilinay Avenue for a concrete footpath was deferred until a later date.

State Houses.—The local M.l'., Mr C R. I etrie, has made representations to the Lnder-Secretary for Housing, recommending extension of the scheme to Papatoetoe A reply was received thatowing to shortage of skilled labour at present and numerous schemes in hand, nothing could be undertaken at present, but the Papatoetoe district would be considered as soon as possible. I Finance Report.—The half-yearly finance ' report showed a credit of £300 after the heavy payment of over £2000 in full payment ot ipterest and sinking fund for the ' whole year. i Donations.—lt was resolved to donate £1' 1/ to the fct. John Ambulance, and £1 1/ to the local nursing division. j Straying Cattle.—Several complaints of straying cattle were received, and the matter was placed in the hands of the ranger to be dealt with.

Band Pevival.-Mr. W. J. Dochertv reported that a meeting was held on Monday night to revive the Papatoetoe Band which became defunct a year or two a"o" tic stated that there was a good attendance, and a further meetinc was to be held before placing the matter before the board The endeavour to revive the baud met with the board s approval.

Hall Renovations.—Mi. Tracy brought up several matters in regard to improvements needed to the hall, which were referred to the hall committee
