LAWN TENNIS.
AUCKLAND ASSOCIATION. COMPETITIONS OPEN OCTOBER 15. Mr. A. J- S. Lamb presided over the monthly meeting of delegates of the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association laet new clubs, Fowlds Park, Prince of Wales aixl St. Barnabas, w«re admitted to membership. Messrs. A. Sjxxmer and R. G. Armitage were appointed graee and hard court grounds superintendent* respectively, thus becoming ex-officio members of the executive. The delegates on record their Appreciation of the long and valued services to tennis of Messrs. E. W. Grrffithe and T. E. Erickeon, the retiring ground* euperintendente. who are both life members of the association.
Mr. J. K. S. Hall submitted the interclub committee's report on the entries for the hard-court competitions, there being an increase of six leaine over last year's total of 96, thie isettins; a further record. It was decided to adhere to October 15 an the starting date of the competitions. The method of conducting the fifth grade hard-court competition was altered to allow each player three "matches, of which one is a single match. A. D. Brown. J. W. Gunn, J. T. Mayeon and X. CJ. iSturt are to be nominated for the New Zealand men's team to tour Australia in November.
