WAIHI, Tuesday.
An enthusiastic reception was accorded Mr. J. Thorn, M.P., and Mrs. Thorn last evening at a social function organised by the Waihi ladies' branch of the Labour party at the King's Hall, which was taxed to its capacity. The president of the branch, Mrs. F. M. Boxall, introduced the guests to the large assemblage, it being their first public appearance at Waihi s'ince returning from Geneva. Brief addresses were given by both. Mrs. Thorn addressed a largely attended meeting of ladies at the Miners' Hall during the afternoon, and a visit was paid to Waihi Beach in the evening when an address was delivered by Mr. Thorn.
