SOCIAL SECURITY. COMMENT BY MR. F. W. DOIDGE. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) TAURAXGA, this day. Mr. F. W. Doidge, National candidate for Tauranga. opened his campaign here last night before an attendance of COO. Many people were turned away. Mr. Doidge criticised the Government for its unfulfilled promises and emphasised the fact that the Issue now was Socialism versus freedom. The smoke screen behind which the Government would hide till election day was social security. The Socialist Government could not claim a monopoly of social humanitarian aims. The National party would go as far in that direction as was compatible with the country's resources. The e met with an enthusiastic reception vf.d dealt effectively with much goodnatured interruption. A motion of thanks to the candidate and absolute confidence in the National party was carried amid cheering.
