NAZI OUTBURSTS DEPRECATED
British Official Wireless. (Received 12 noon.) RUGBY, September 19. Official quarters strongly deprecate speculation regarding "the policy to be adopted with a view to promoting a peaceful solution of the. Czechoslovak problem," upon which last night's official announcement stated that Britain and France were in complete agreement.
It is generally assumed in London that no authoritative information will be available at least until after Mr. Chamberlain has seen Herr. Hitler again. Leading articles generally withhold detiiiied comment and emphasise the need for calm restraint.
The "Daily Telegraph"' says a factor winch is enormously strengthening the hands of statesmanship is the patient composure with which the public in liritain and France is bearing the strain of suspense. Disappointment on the other hand is expressed that the I'.erehtesgadcu meeting has not been followed by a suspension of provocative utterance by the Herman Press and radio while tremendous issues arc being submitted to sober counsel.
.Mr. C. R. Attlee and Mr. Arthur (•reeiiwood, Labour leaders, visited Downing Street at Mr. Chamberlain's invitation in order that he might inform them of the position. Sir Archibald Sinclair, Liberal leader, was also received by Mr. Chamberlain. Other callers were Mr. J. I'. Kennedy. American .Ambassador, Count Grandi, Italian Ambassador, and M. L'orbin, French Ambassador.
