PETROLEUM ACT.
Inference to the Petroleum Act k made in the National party manifesto. It is stated that if the party is returned to power it will amend the legislation by making provision for propertyowners to receive one-half of the royalties payable under the Act. This would maintain to the n»tive race the spirit of the Treaty of Waitangi.
