FORESTRY POLICY.
LONG RANGE PROPOSALS.
A long range forestry policy is proposed by the National party in its manifesto. The objects set out are: Preserving in perpetuity indigenous forests, the conservation of existing forests on steep hillsides and on moun° tain country where the destruction of the forest may lead to flooding and soil erosion; the planting with suitable forest trees of areas of non-agricultural land necessary to maintain an ample supply of timber for the future; the regeneration wherever possible .of many of our Indigenous forests and the planting ©I areas necessary to protect agricultural land from flooding and erosion.
