The Auckland heavy-weight, McHugh, possessing a devastating punch, gave an outstanding display in his class, only C. Marsh, of Greymouth, rivalling him in speed and ringcraft. Marsh ran both the 1837 light-heavy-weight champion and the 19.'i8 champion to close decisions. In the lijiht-heavy-'weig'iit division W. Lister took the title from his brother, T. Lister. The winner was a ponderous lighter, with plenty of power, but little science, whose success was attributable in some dejjree to the hard fight his brother had with Marsh. Heenev (Gisborne). 10.0%, beat F. Woods (Xorthern Wairoa), on points. Light-weight.—Semi-finals: J. Mclvor (Hawke's Bay) won by default from H. Mclvor (Napier); J. O'Connor (Christchurch). 0.1%, beat S. Morris (Wairar'apa). 9.6. on points. Final: J. O'Connor (Christehmch). 9.1%. beat .7. Mclvor (Hawke's Bay). 9.3. on points. Feather-weight. — Semi-finals: W.
