NATIONAL COUNCIL.
NEW BRANCH FORMED. MEETING AT WHANGAREI. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, this day. A resolution favouring the forming of a branch of the National Council of Women in Whangarei was passed unanimously at a meeting convened by the Whangarei Women's Civil League on Saturday night. Thirteen women's organisations were represented. Delegates from the Auckland branch. Misses Hemus (president), Ellen Melville, and Carnachan and Mrs. McXair addressed the meeting on the steps necessary to form a branch, and outlined the objects of flie council. To circularise the local organisations, with a view to securing support, a temporary committee comprising Mesdames Marsden Woods, J. W. Dawson, T. J. Evans, Hirtzell and E. H. Allan was set up.
