FANCY DRESS.
FIRST ANNUAL BALL. ST. JOHN AMBULANCE. The. St. John Ambulance Transport Social Club held their first annual fancy •Iress ball in the Ambulance Station, Rutland Street, City, on Saturday night. Scenes of revelry predominated and multi-coloured streamers, together with balloons, confetti and gay fancy cos- ! t limes did much to make a truly carnival atmosphere. The judges. Mrs. S. K. Langstone and Mrs. I). F. Mackay. had a very difficult task in selecting the winners, but their decisions wore very popular ones, judging by the warm applause given. During the evening Mr. S. K. Langstone took an opportunity to farewell a very popular officer and his wife, Corp-Officer and Mrs. K. Crawford, who were leaving shortly for England. Those in fancy costume were:—Mr. P. Flood, as Karl of Warwick (first prize, gentleman); Miss Mason, as Coronation (first prize, lady); Mr. C. McLoughlin, as Knight of St. John (first prize, gentlemen, most original); Miss X. Yearslev, as "Mad About Music" (first prize, lady, most original); Miss P. Xoall, Queen of Hearts; Miss X. Xoall. Russian peasant; Miss S. McLoughlin. Eastern lady; Miss V. Armitage. Knight of Insignia; Mrs. K. K. Knight. Gipsy; Mrs. P. H. Hatton, period costume; Miss T. Knight, Russian princess; Miss H. Walker, Hungarian peasant; Mrs. ,T. K. Warren. Dutch girl; Miss C. Miller, (tipsy: Miss M. Saunders. Indian squaw; Miss .7. Darnell, cow girl; Miss H. Saunders, French soldier girl; Miss G. Bridge. Gipsy; Miss E. Grey, Lady Rothschild; Miss X. Pike, Spring; Miss B.
