DIVORCE -PETITION.
INVALID WIFE SUCCEEDS,
A permanent invalid, and brought into the Supreme Court in ; a nursing cot, Helen Broom Austin (Mr. Townshend) petitioned before Mr. Justice Fair, to-day for divorce from her husband, Edgar Austin, of Ruakaka, on the ground of soparation for more than three years. The, case was not defended. Giving evidence' from the cot, petitioner 6aid she and her husband were married in 1909, and there was one child of the marriage, now over 21 years of age. In the year 1930, when they were living at Birkenhead, witness became seriously affected by rheumatoid arthritis and little liope was given of her recovery. Her medical adviser said it was necessary for her to have regular nursing attention, which her husband said he could not afford'. After they had talked it over, 6he agreed to go to a nursing home, where she had heen ever since. Her husband had maintained her to the best of his ability ever since, but for the past six years she had not seen him. It was agreed when she went to the nursing home that their separation should be permanent. A decree nisi was granted, to be made absolute in three months, and costs to be paid by the respondent.
