COMPENSATION AWARD.
FURTHER AMOUNT GXV£N.
Judgment for accrued compensation of £11 1:5/4 was given in favour of William James Yeo (Mr. Slipper) in a reserved opinion issued by Mr. Justice O'Regan from the Arbitration Court. Plaintiff proceeded against Messrs. Pearson, Knowles and Ryland Bros. (N.Z.), Limited, iron merchants, for a review of the compensation awarded him because of an accident he suffered 'in the company's employ.
When the case was before the Court previously, it was held that though there was insufficient evidence to justify further compensation, the plaintiff was entitled to a suspensory award to ensure further compensation in the event of recurrence of his trouble. The question now was whether further compensation should be allowed or whether the case should be adjourned to enable Yeo to undergo an operation.
After traversing the medical evidence given, his Honor held that the case should be adjojurned for three months to enable the plaintiff to undergo the treatment recommended. If not settled by the parties, the case would be dealt with further by the Court at the proper time. Yeo was also entitled to further com- j pensation as from the termination of his employment on February 25 last. The amount given was 28 weeks at the rate of 8/4 a week.
