DEMAND FOR DOMESTICS. A material improvement in the placement of unemployed women is noted in the annual report of tlie Ohristchurch women's employment committee, and it is stated that there is a demand for competent domestics which cannot be met. The most serious difficulty experienced in the committee's work is the placing of those unemployed who have spent several years in factory or shop and cannot adapt themselves to domestic employment. As a result of a falling-off in registrations, it was deemed advisable to reduce the office staff. Two of the elder women have been engaged in making and mending clothes for those in necessitous circumstances.
