HAWERA CLUB'S PROGRESS.
NEW RECORD PROFIT OX YEAR.
Prosperity— that is the keynote of the annual report on the oj»crations of the Hawera Trotting Club during the past season. There is not a sad line in its reading. For instance, despite the fact that the stakes were increased by £.">l.*i. and that bad weather was experienced for its Easter meeting, the club finished up with a profit of £958 IS/10, this being a small increase on the prior record profit.
All sources of revenue showed progress. and the result is that the club has finished up the season In the fortunate position of possessing assets valued at £5058.
RENOWN'S BEST'S TROUBLE
In the early part of last season Renown s Best showed everv promise of developing into a Cup and after making an exhibition of her fields in several races she failed rather miserably at Timaru. Since then her form has not In-en impressive. Of her brilliance there is not a question, but her hard pulling tactics make matters difficult for her trainer, M. Holmes.
