WOMEN'S RIGHT.
LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL."
(By Telegraph—Frese Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. At the annual' conference of the Federation of Women's Institutes held yesterday the appointment of women to the Legislative Council was unanimously supported by the adoption of the following resolution .submitted by the Tauranga District Federation:—
k*"That thie Dominion conference of women's institutes urge that the law be amended to permit the appointment of women to the -Legislative Council."
One delegate, in.support of the adoption of the resolution, stated that no matter how good male representation might be in Parliament,-it was necessary that women should have a say in the government of the country, and that as women were now for election to the House of Representatives they should have the right to sit in the Legislative Council.
I The resolution was -adopted without dissent. It was- also suggested that a Parliamentary committee " of women should be set up to advise: the Government on domestic subjects, especially those relating to women and the horn*.
