B GRADE CHAMPIONSHIP.
The Auckland B grade championship was advanced a further stage on Saturday night at Messrs. Billiards, Limited, showrooms. In the first game H. Ward (Waihi) met H. Bull, a local player. Ward coined an early lead, making several runs over the* 20 mark and displaying a sound knowledge of the game. Bull did not have many opportunities, but his play improved considerably over the latter stages of the games. .Ward, however, maintained his consistency and iiLally ran to points with a good advantage. Ward's best breaks were ±0, 3t>. 30 and 32.
E. C. Sutton displayed confidence at the commencement of hH game with A. Smillie. HuiiH of 23 and -0 by Sutton gained him an early lead. He scored consistently and in spite of his opponent's gooc uphill fight, maintained his lead, to win comfortably. The winner's best breaks were 23, 25, 80 and 21, while the loser scored runs of 28, 23 and 20.
G. Basham will play J. J. Shepherd at 7 p.m., and at 8.30 p.m. P. Healey will meet H. Rae.
