APPLES SELL SLOWLY.

OVER-SUPPLY OF LEMONS. LOW POTATO PRICES. The inquiry for apples and peare at the City Markets this week has been very poor. Only deesert apples of extra choice quality were in demand to-day and all other varieties were dull. Pears were also only in fair demand, but there was a good inquiry for choice hothouse tomatoes and for hothouse grapes, which are scarce, with high prices ruling. Tree tomatoes were also in demand. The market is still over-supplied with lemons and poorman oranges. A few cultivated mushrooms are coining forward and selling at high prices. Quotations: —

Selling rates were as .follow:—Cockerels: Heavy breeds, prime, 5/9 to 7/ each; not prime, 3/ up; light breeds, prime, 2/6 to 3/; not prime, 1/6 up. Fat roosters: Heavy breeds, prime, 3/ to 4/; light br.eeds, 2/ to 3/. Fat hens: Heavy breeds, 3/3 to 4/3; light breeds. 2/ to 3/. Pullets: Heavy breeds: Best, 4/6 t&8/6; smaller. 2/ up; light *reeds, best. 4/ to 7/; smaller, 2/ to 3/. Drakes: Younjj, prime, 3/6 to 4/6: smaller. 2/ to 3/. Ducks: Yonng, 3/ to 5/: old, 2/ to 3/.
