WAIKATO BURGLARIES
TWO MEN FOR SENTENCE.
"SAFE THROWN INTO RIVER." (By Telegraph—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, Thursday. Two charges of breaking, entering and theft were admitted by Walter Leonard Cooper, aged 23, a labourer, of Te Awaniutu, and Leonard Frank Haynes, aged 30, a labourer and miner, of Tauwhare, in the Police Court this morning. They were charged with,'on June 25, breaking an entering the shop of John Alfred Halkett, at Putaruru, and stealing a quantity of clothing, and a safe 'and contents, of a total value of £04, and also with breaking and entering the Frankton primary school on July 5 and stealing a clock, keye and 4/.

Evidence was also given of the accused returning to their boarding house with suitcases of new clothes.
In a statement to the police. Heynes said that the office books in Halkett's safe were burned on the roadside, and the safe was thrown into the Waikato River, near the Fairfield bridge. Both the accused were committed to the Supreme Court for sentence.
