WRESTLING.
DETTOIf MEETS MEEHAN. AT TOWN HALL, TO-MORROW. Few matches that have been arranged by the Auckland Wrestling Association have aroused as much interest as the first: appearance here this year of Dean Detton, I who will meet Pat Meehan at the Town Hall to-morrow mgnt. .Detton ie so well and favourably known ae a result of his ■ two previous visits to the Dominion that already bookings for the match are heavy. Since he was last here in 1934 he has done all that those who predicted a brilliant career for him anticipated, having reached the topmost rung of wrestling fame. Before Detton arrived thie year visiting wrestlers were unanimous that he had improved greatly on his form of 1934 and, in his bout at Wellington this week Detton showed that the position had not been over-stated. Detton's liking for fast and exhilarating tactics has not been forgotten, nor has his ability to uee flying tackles and dropkicks with deadly effect. Meehan, too, is a favourite of the Auckland ring, and a wrestler who is on his way up. The match will be a testing one for him. Amateurs will be selected from the fol-]owing:-»-B. Watene (11.4), Surrey, v. B. White (11.2), Otahuhu; B. Freaks (10.4), Lynndale, v. i. Moore (10!6), Leys; F. Whitcombe (9.7), Auckland, v. H. Franklin (9.7), Broadway.
