ATHENIAN CLUB.
J ENJOYABLE FARE. LARGE ATTENDANCE. [ Most original was the theme chosen for the Athenian Club's entertainment on Saturday evening, when the hosts and hostesses, Mr. and Mrs. C. R. de Latour, and Mr. and Miss Svenson arranged the fare on the popular slogan "Eat More Fruit."
The prologue depicted a typical island scene, with natives in bizarre costumes, and a powerful-looking chief, who owned a dancing slave and a pet monkey (the latter created endless amusement). The captured hunter, who was placed in a. huge cauldron, then made an amazing appearance, and told the natives to "Eat More Fruit."
The roles were cleverly played by Misses Mardi Brooks. J. Orosher, Messrs. C. Anderson, A. (lark. \V, Svenson, C. R. de Latour, and McKirov.
Sketches were skilfully performed bv Miss M. Crcagh, Messrs. 1). Stark, J. Stokes, and IJ. Yates. Encores were given for the cornet solos played by Mr. B. Sproule. The accompanist was Miss Elva Carr.
Many Continental favours were di* tributed to the large number of mem bers and friends that attended.
