LAND OF FUTURE.
THROUGH POET'S EYES.
AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND.
"The life there is not of to-day or yesterday, but of to-morrow; it is a life without the burden of the past. Its history is a promise of future life." Thus prophetically and poetically spoke Dr. K. Wolfskeahl, a Cerman-Jewish poet and author, who arrived in Auckland by the Awatea yesterday. He added: ""And from what I have read of New Zealand I think it will be the same here." With his flowing hair, big figure, and flatfish, wide-brimmed hat, his general air of a Shakespearean actor of the old school, Dr. Wolfskeahl will be an easily recognisable j*?rson a« he stops off' at the various New Zealand cities during tire next few months.
Dr. Wolfckeahl has come to New Zealand looking for both inspiration and material for his literary works. "T am coming to a new country, an entirelv new world, a new personality and outlook, and I am enormously interested in the prospect," he said. He was formerly a resident of Munich, but has lived in Italy since 1931. He has written both lyric and dramatic poetry, books on philosophical and cultural subject*, and has made translations into German of French, Italian and English works.
