LONDON*, June 17
The Bayonne correspondent of The Times ' states that out of the "Lost Division" of Loyalists onlv 300 elected to go back to rebel Spain.
The total of refugees is estimated to exceed 12,000. Many arrived on the verge of collapse from hunger and exhaustion after lighting in the mountains, where it is impossible to carry big stores of provisions.
The commander estimates rebel casual tics at 10.000 and Loyalists at 1200.
At Madrid it is claimed that Lovalists repulsed four insurgent, attacks on illareal, south-west of Castellon.
Planes dropped r.O bombs on Alicante. kiNing 12 and injuring 27 people \ aleneia was also Raided.
A message from Burgos states that f.eneral Franco has protested to France against French aeroplanes' "violation of . pallida territory ' on four occasions. CHARGE FAILS. British Shipmaster Accused of Smuggling. CONTRABAND INTO SPAIN. GIBRALTAR, June 17. Justices decided that a prima facie case had not been made against Captain Scott, master of the British steamer Stancroft, who was detained at Gibraltar on May 2o on a charge of carrying prohibited articles to Spain. He pleaded not guilty to the charge. The prosecution alleged that prohibited articles found on the Stancroft included cases of empty shells and nine aircraft engines.
