Auckland. —The Auckland evening branch of the Women's Christian Temperance Union met recently at the residence of Mrs. Hugh Kasper. Mrs. J. H. Patterson presided. The teYnperance fact was given by Mrs. Brown. A paper was read on the history of the official paper the "White Ribbon." A solo was rendered by Mrs. Patterson. Ponsonby.—A special afternoon was held at the monthly meeting of the Ponsonby branch of the Women's Christian Temperance Union in St. John's Methodist hall. The president, Mrs. Read, presided over a good attendance of members and friends, who had gathered to do honour to one of the oldest members of the branch, Mrs. Moore, who was also a foundation member of the W.C.T.U. The meeting took the form of a pay-up social as well as a birthday afternoon and pianoforte solos were given by Miss A. Watson, vocal solos by Miss L. Ellison, and elocutionary items by Miss Read. Mrs. Moore, who was celebrating her Hfith birthday, was presented with bouquets bv Miss Read und Mrs. Watson.
