Silver Wedding.
Over 40 friends gathered at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. C. K. Brooke, "Okaiawa," Bucklands Beach, to celebrate their silver wedding anniversary. The first portion of the evening was spent in flag five hundred, the prizewinners being Mrs. Burgess, Mrs. Brooke and Mr. H. Walmslev. Travelling prizes were won by Mesdames Malioney and Millar. Competitions filled in the latter part of the evening, prize-winners being Mrs. S. Farrelly and Mr. C. R. Wall. The toast of the bride and bridegroom was proposed by Mr. W. Mahoney, and Mr. S. M. Farrelly, on behalf of those present, asked Mr. and Mrs. Brooke to accept a set of coloured crystal water glasses, jug and tray, and wished them many more years of happiness together. Mrs. Burgess presented Mrs. Brooke with a bouquet of silver lilies. Among those present were:—Mesdames Farrelly, Wall, Burgess, Walmsley, Churcher, Wall (Hawera), Dimes, Allen, Mahoney, Millar, Curtis, Smythe, Blood and Misses Jackson, Belcher and Farrelly, and Messrs. Wall, Farrelly, Burgess, Allen, Churcher, Tattersall, Fairweather (3), Blood (*2), Mahoney, Millar, Curtis, Walmsley, and Brooke.
