WHALING INDUSTRY. Need for Support of Measures For Conservation. CONFERENCE IN LONDON. United Press Association. —Copyright. (Received 1 p.m.) LONDON'. June 14. Opening the International Whaling Conference at which New Zealand and Australia are among the 15 countries represented, Mr. W. S. Morrison, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, warned that whaling enterprises in every country would be destroyed if measures for conservation were not supported.
He added that, despite last year's agreement, 8000 more whales have been killed than in the previous year. The conference will urge other Governments to join the agreement.
