The weather to-day was squally and < h:tuseable, with low temperatures, indicating the possibility of lieavy snow on the liiprli country. At Ward yesterday the wind at times reached gale force. The Tarnahine had a rough crossing from Wellington to Pieton and rca< .ed the latter port more than an hour late. The sea was particularly rough from the Wellington Heads until the ves*-:i was off th'» Karori beacon, where one heavy sea which was shipped carried away the easing protecting the telegraph wires leading from the bridge to the engine room.
