SPEED BEFORE CRASH.
THE PATANA DERAILMENT. PASSENGERS' ESTIMATES. (By Telegraph.— Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The e\:dcnce of a number of passengers who were 011 the train when it was derailed was taken at the inquiry today into the Rataua railway crash. They were closely questioned as to the speed at which the train was travelling. Patrick Gleeson. of I-dand Bay. estimated the <speed as from 2."> to 30 miles an hour. Robert Gadd considered that it was -10 miles an hour, and might have been 4"> miles an hour. (Yesterdav's evidence appears 011 Page 18.)
