FOUR SCOWS ARRIVE.
OLD TIMES RECALLED. CLOSE RUN UP HARBOUR. • The sight of three scows running into port almost in line abreast this morning was like old times.' In yeans past a fresh easterly on the coast would bring a dozen or more fine scows in with timber and various other cargoes loaded at coastal ports. About two scows a week is the average nowadays. ; _The three vessels which met at North Head about 10.30 were Captain J. MeKinnon's Rahiri from Kawau, the Aspden Shipping Company's Scot from Waipu, and Messrs. J. J. Craig's Maggie. The Rahiri gradually drew away from the Scot and Maggie, and dropped anchor off the Western wharf -first. The Scot and Maggie were together. Half an hour earlier the Aspden Company's Nor' West also made port.
