ANNUAL MEETING.
NATIONAL PARTY BRANCH. An explanation of the possible implications of the Government's superannuation scheme was given last night by Dr. E. G. McElroy at the annual meeting of the Auckland Central electorate branch of the New Zealand National party, held in the Chamber of Commerce. Dr. Hilda Norther oft presided over a large attendance.
Dr. McElroy suggested that under the present proposals the benefits to the general* public would be much smaller than would appear - at first perusal of the plan. To finance it permanently, a progressively higher taxation would be necessary.
Officers were elected as under:— President (re-elected), Mr. J. B. Donald; vice-presidents, Dr. S. Kenrick and Captain Hugh Kasper.. There is also a committee of 20 members.
