WORKS POLICY.
PAPAKUEA COUNCIL The initiation of a programme of works was decided upon at the Papakura Borough Council meeting last evening. The Mayor, Mr. S. Evans, said the work would be done under scheme 13 and probably about 30 men would be employed on a 40-hour week at 2/4 per hour and paid by the Department. The schedule of . works would include preparing a children's playground, fencing and cleaning up the council's reserves, also preparing footpaths ready for next season's sealing.
The council, he said, would liave to supply adequate and suitable tools and provide for proper supervision.
