SLIP HITS TRAIN.
CARRIAGES DAMAGED
MISHAP NEAR TUNNEL. PASSENGERS' LONG WAIT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUSTEDIIT, this day. A slip at Blanket Bay close to the entrance of the Sawyer's Bay tunnel struck the 11.15 o'clock Port Chalmers train last evening, breaking the windows of two carriages, and damaging the bridges connecting them. The passengers were not taken off till 1.45 a.m., reaching Port Chalmers at 2 a.m. It was raining heavily and they had to struggle through deep water and mud to reach the buses. ■
Fortunately tlio train crew Lad been advised of a minor earlier slip, and were proceeding cautiously.
