NEW QUARTERS.

ROYAL MIMIC AT TAKANINI.

BRAZILIAN FOR WELLINGTON IMPROVEMENT OF SILVER GLOW. Royal Mimic was taken over by C. Morse after the June meeting, and is now trained on the local track. He is a very promising 'eliaeer, and although up in the weights is likely to extend his winning record during the winter racing. Morse lias another addition to his team in the shape of a five-year-old gelding by Te Monanui—Connemara. This horse is backward at present, and it is not anticipated that he will be ready to race for some time. Gold Petal (Oracion —Mystical Rose), in the same stable, is being got ready for the Opotiki meeting, where he is to compete in the novice event.

Valamito has gone into winter quarters after having raced well, but without luck, at the Ellerslie meeting. Hie form throughout the season wa*> consistent over all distances, and it ie confidently predicted that the Vaals —Merry Catmint gelding will rise to even greater heights as a handicap performer.

Flood Tkle lost few friends by his displays in the Cornwall and York Handicaps. He did well in the Cornwall, as he was interfered with. Flood Tide is a very capable performer, whose alisence from the winning list should not be long delayed.

With most of the district's representatives in temporary retirement, there has not been a great deal of activity on the tracks of late. F. Smith's active brigade comprises only four yearlings, Paddy the Kip, anil a rising three-year-old by The Ace - "ilimond, all of whom are doing well. W.!'.iout exception the yearlings are makirg excellent progress, while The Ace gelding is commencing to shape up nicely.

W. Townsend is allotting his team road work, arid when last seen Royevrus, Poker Dice and Pocket Venus all looked well, and promise to be in a first-class order to undertake a preparation for the new season. This trainer has also four yearlings under his guidance, while Bon Star is expected to be on hand to resume a preparation at an early date.

D. .T. Burgess' attention is occupied with Brazilian, Silver Glow, Milanion, High Sea and Pleuron. The firet-named has been working very well, and will probably be taken to the Wellington meeting next month. There is a possibility that Milanion will also make the trip. Silver Glow, k now racing better, and is giving evidence of being a useful sort a little later on. This Silverburn gelding has taken some time to show form, but placed performances at Te Rapa and Ellerslie encourage the belief that he will soon make good. High Sea has also shown form without winning, but the Heroic gelding possesses the necessary ability, and as he stays jather well should be worth keeping in mind when he next races.

E. Pope has Saccoue looking in firstclass order, in anticipation of a visit to Melbourne, and if the trip eventuates he will not race here before his departure. Penzance is doing her work in approved style, and the same applies to the Hoaiiri filly. This stable now shelters a yearling filly by Lyeander—Adi Thangi, thus a halfsister to True Bill. The Cambria Park— Receipio filly is shaping up nicely, and will be known as Bronwem, while the Tea Tray—Tambourina filly has had the name Espro bestowed on her. The latter is a nice mover, and a very likely looking sort. Bronze Trail, a recent acquisition, has impressed by his styl?. He is a very long-striding gelding who gives every indication of being a good galloper.
