ELLERSLIE TRACK.

A QUIET MORNING. TE HAI WORKS WELL. At Ellerslie this morning No. 3 grass track was available only to horses with engagements at the Bay of Plenty meeting to be held at Tauranga on Saturday, other horses being exercised on the sand track. The going was heavy and consequently galloping was restricted. Several jumpers were schooled over fences in the centre. Te Hai (Gilchrist), after commencing slowly over a round, was timed to run his last six furlongs in 1.20 2-5. He ran the first three furlongs in 395, and was doing his work well at the end. All Irish (Kerr) strode over a round in 1.47, the last half-mile being covered in 575. He looks none the worse for his racing at Ellerslie and will fulfil his engagements at Tauranga. Alyth ' (Gilchrist) finished up a useful task by running the last three furlongs in 44 l-ss. This mare ran a couple of good races at the Great Northern meeting, and may do better at the Bay of Plenty fixture. Fleetwind (Gilchrist) was worked on the sand, where she got to the end of five furlongs in 1.6, the last half-mile taking 52 4-ss. Fleetwind will make her next appearance at the Waipa meeting, to be held at Te Rapa next Saturday week. Jumpers. Tane Mahotu (Gough) was sent over four hurdles in the centre, giving a very satisfactory exhibition.

Orenda (Gough) was given a similar task, and made no mistake. This horse recently joined I. Tucker's team.

Chief Lap (Gough) led Arikira (Ritchie) over four of the same obstacles, fencing with plenty of dash, while Arikira showed improvement on his papt efforts.

Te Hai,-Alyth and are duo to leave for Tauranga on Thursday to iulfil engagements at Bay oi Plasty
