TWO MEN CHARGED
ROTORUA ARREST MADE. (From Our Own Correspondent.) ROTORUA, Monday. At a special sitting of the Magistrate'ej Court at Rotorua yesterday afternoon, Kenneth William Edward Bates, aged 25, and Edward Donovan, aged 42, appeared before Mr. W. L. Richards, J.P., and were jointly charged with being found by night in possession of house-breaking implements and with breaking and entering the counting house of the New Zealand Government Tourist Department with ttlie intention of stealing the sum of £48 12/9.
On the application of DetectiveSergeant Thompson, the two men were remanded to appear in Rotorua on June 22.
Bate* escaped from the police cell at Rotorua lute on Sunday night, hut was recaptured, at Cambridge yesterd.y.
