THE PRIME MINISTER
WORKER IN FLAX SWAMP,

FOXTON, Moiiday.
The fact that his first job in New Zealand was working in a flax swamp in the Foxton district was mentioned by the Prime Minister, the Rt. lion. M. J. Savage, during the course of his visit today. Referring to the flax industry the Prime Minister said' a great deal more could be done. A beginning had been made with woolpacks, but there was 110 reason why they should not bo developed further. "Everything that can be done in Now Zealand with flax will be done," said Mr. Savage. "It is our job to do it."
Mr. F. Shaw, on behalf of the Labour party, presented Mr. Savage with a framed T>ond issued by liim as secretary in 1919 wlien an appeal was made for funds.
