£500 DAMAGES CLAIM.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) IXVERCARGILL, Monday. A writ claiming £500 damages for alleged slander was served on the Mayor of Invereargill, Mr. John Miller, this evening, by Mr. Kenneth G. Roy, solicitor, acting on behalf of Alfred William Jones. The action has arisen as the result of alleged remarks made by the Mayor at a meeting of the City Council on Tuesday night. Mr. Jones is a member of the council.
