STEAMER BUMPS BAR.
INCIDENT AT GREYMOUTH. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) GREYMOUTH, Friday. Due to a heavy swell the steamer Foolta, which left the Greymouth wharf at 8.35 o'clock this morning for Wellington, bumped the outer bar in negotiating the harbour entrance. However, she was not stopped, and as far ae can be ascertained no damage wae caused.
The Poolta, in the command of Captain T. Bevan, was fully loaded with approximately 300,000 ft of timber and 1300 tons of coal for Miramar and Wellington, and was drawing 17ft 6in, the de th of the bar being a little over 25ft, discounting the considerable swell.
