DISMISSED.

DIVORCE PETITION.

COMMENT BY JUDGE. JURY'S RISER TO VERDICT. The jury brought in a verdict this afternoon for defendant in the divorce petition by Henry George Donald (Mr. Sullivan) against Agnes Mary Fanny Donald (Mr. Dickson). David Bridcson (Messrs. Allan Moody and Webster) was cited as co-respondent.

The grounds, of the petition were alleged adultery. The case has lasted two days, and the final evidence was given yesterday afternoon, after which counsel addressed the jury.

Judges of great experience had said that the evidence of paid detectives should be approached with care, and, indeed, viewed with suspicion, said his Honor Mr. Justice Callan, summing up this morning.

His Honor added that the occupation of the private detective was not a pleasant one, and not one to which nieeminded persons would be attracted. Judge!?, he added, had selected certain classes of people whose evidence should be carefully weighed. Among these were accomplices, paid detectives, and, for another reason, children. These, he said, were remarks referring to private detectives generally.

The jury retired at 10.55 a.m

The jury added a rider to their verdict, stating that they were very dissatisfied with the evidence of the special witnesses for the petitioner.

His Honor consequently dismissed the petition for divorce.
