CLAIMS FOR NEW AWARD.

CONCILIATION PROCEEDINGS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Wednesday. The hearing commenced before the Conciliation Council of the coastal masters and officers' dispute. Mr. T. D. Bishop, employers' advocate, said the last award was made as a. result of a complete agreement. The Merchant Guild was now proposing practically to drop the classification agreed to for the northern district, in addition to seeking wage increases.

Captain Mclncloe, advocate for the masters and officers, said it could not be conceded that there was any real difference between the conditions in the north and those in the south. It was agreed to leave the proposed alteration in classification of vessels in the northern industrial district and the wages questions till later in the day.
