SEMI-STREAMLINED.
LARGER RAILCAR. IN COMMISSION SOON. RUBBER-MOUNTED BOGIES. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. A larger railcar is under construction and is to be on the rails before very long. The car is 66ft long and is fitted with two ten-litre Diesel engines developing 120 h.p. at 1800 revolutions a minute. The engines are rubber mounted on bogies, thus removing vibration from the passenger compartment. The car can be driven from either end, and thus is reversible. In addition two cars can be coupled together, and be controlled by one driver. The car is of semi-streamlined st,eel welded construction. Its weight is 32 tons and the maximum speed attainable is 75 m.p.h.
