• WESTFIELD SALE. MARKET OVER-SUPPLIED. KEEN DEMAND FOR BEEF. The beef market was firm at West field o-day, but veal prices slipped. An overlow yarding of calves came in. ami lumbers were in excess of butcher's •equirements. As a result values were ibout 5/ per head lower than last week, ind more in some cases. The offering of fat cattle was also a arge one. but keen bidding kept prices inn. Prime ox sold up to 30' per 1001b, md all classes of beef were quoted at mchanged rates. Butchers bid keenly for irime sorts, of which there was a fair ti'oportion, especially in the bullock pens. Steers from Mr. W. \V. McLoughlin, l.'apatoetoe, made top price of the sale. Three outstanding beasts realised from £15 to £15 5/. A line of seven from Mr. LI. K. Keed, Waerenga, sold from £13 [~/6 to £15, and a second truck of eight rom the same farm brought £11 15' to £14 13/. Mr. G. Smith, Matakohe, sold i big consignment of 22 steers at prices anging up to £14 10/ a head. In the calf section, owing to the oversupply, prime sorts sold mole cheaply than 'or some weeks.
