BRADMAN'S "DECLARATION."

ENDS IN DRAW.

(Received 11 a.m.)

LONDON, May 31

The cricket match at Lord's between Australia and Middlesex ended in a draw. After the county had led by 56 runs on the first innings, Bradman declared the visitor#,' second innings'closed, in order to give W. J. Edrich a chance to join the select band of players to compile 1000 runs by the end of May. There was no play on Saturday owing to rain, and when stumps were pulled on Monday Middlesex had four wickets down for 49, in reply to Australia's moderate total of 132. The not out men were Compton (17) and Human (9). The weather was cold and dull wheh play was resumed this morning.' The wicket was drier, but promised another lively day for the batsmen. Three Sixes off O'Reilly. Compton and Human faced the difficult conditions cleverly. Human drove O'Reilly Jvr> a -i? ix *° t * le Pavilion. Nevertheless, OKeilly was rather deadly, without luck, lie shaved Human's wicket and finally shattered it. The pair had added 57. Robins pulled O'Reilly for two great sixes in consecutive overs. Compton was diopped at the wicket off Waite when 41 K9bins was bright, and got 12 off McCormick s second over, but was soon afterW rrL fowled by the Victorian express. The remainer of the side were soon nnished oft with honours to McCormick. Game Ends on Sporting Note. Play was not resumed after lunch until 2.50, owing to rain. The wicket was tricky. Badcock was Bowled in Nevell's first over, the young player thus getting him twice in the game. Bradman began uncertainly, but Fingleton was quite confident and batted very well. Later Bradman became accustomed to the wicket. McCabe waa in excellent form and batted brilliantly. The match ended on a sporting note, as Bradman declared the innings closed to allow Edrich to score the "ten runs necessary to complete his 1000 runs in May. Edrich made 20 in twelve minutes, and stumps were then drawn to enable the Australians to start earlier for the West of England. Scores:— AUSTRALIA. First innings 132 Second Innings.
